General FAQ's
General statement:
All of Kate Dewey's trainings and birth classes are gender expansive. We at Let It Be Birth recognize all birthing genders, family structures and choices for pregnancies and childbirth. If you are anti-choice or beleive that only women give birth, you might find this trainer to be... well, difficult.
Where will this be held?
The exact location will be disclosed only to registered participants. We will be in Mountlake Terrace, WA
Can I bring my baby/small child?
Baby? Yes. Small child? Nope. We allow babes in arms only. Once they are mobile, they are too distracting to the other participants.
What are we doing for food during or between trainings?
There will be ample stretch breaks and lunch breaks each day. Our location is door-dashable if you'd like or there are places nearby to get food. We also have access to a refrigerator and microwave if you'd like to bring your own food.
When is payment due?
All fees are due by 3/31/25. An invoice for the 25% deposit will be sent after registration and is due within 3 days.
What do you mean by "equity pricing" for "self identified doulas of color"?
It means that I recognize the barriers to this work for doulas of color and offer a 20% discount on all trainings to people who self-identify as a doula of color. I am not going to tell someone how to identify and I have faith in the humanity of our community not to abuse this. Pricing is completely confidential to my trainings.
I serve a community that is marginalized (queer parents, military families) but I do not identify as a doula of color, can I still get a discount?
Not at this time.

"I don't want to do death work as a birth doula."
...then you probably shouldn't be a doula. I know that is really direct, but birth work can end in an unforeseen death and all doulas need to be prepared.
"Okay, that makes sense. But I won't attend someone who is opting for an elective termination."
Then this training is not for you. This training fully encompasses the range of options available to pregnant people who for any reason no longer consent to their pregnancy.
After this training, will I be a certified bereavement doula?
No. There are still requirements in the online classroom to be fully certified with BAI and about half of the participants who take this training feel called to pursue certification. The knowledge in this training is vital no matter how you practice after it is completed.

BAI takes our trainings to another level in that we create space for an introspective journey as you become a birth doula so we will be focusing on those aspects as well as business practices and how to make yourself successful. This is the most comprehensive training available, you will be very happy with it!

"I spent the entire weekend at a doula training. Before going I was excited to finally get certified but not really looking forward to the training (it is a long story as to why I have attended 300+ births and never certified... easiest explanation is it wasn't a big thing 16 years ago).
