An overnight doula? What is this?

Investment: $440 for an 8 hour shift

What is a "Concierge" Postpartum Doula Service?

This is a new pathway for our team and we are very excited to be launching it in the summer of 2022. After decades of offering this service mostly to their current birth clients, Kate and Jane are ready to expand. We have a team of highly trained and screened postpartum doula contractors that work for us and we will work with our families to craft the care plan that fits their specific needs. Having multiple contractors on our team dramatically lowers the risk that we would need to cancel your shift for illness or another unforeseen life event... if the doula scheduled to see you that evening is suddenly unavailable, someone else will fill in.

So what does that actually LOOK like?
It's pretty straightforward. Clients start by filling out the inquiry form at the bottom of this page. That will get you officially on our radar and we will send you a scheduling link to set up an interview and intake session with one of the two owners, Kate Dewey or Jane Drichta. During this zoom chat, we will go over your needs (and it's really okay if you don't know what you need yet) and explain our services in detail, answering any questions... even the ones you don't know you have.

After this meeting, you'll be sent a copy of our service agreement contract and if you decide you want to work with us, simply let us know and we will send an e-version of that contract for you to sign electronically. We strive to be completely paperless and stress-free for our new parents. We do not ask for a deposit and we don't really need to know exactly how many nights you think you need because really, you won't always know. A ballpark guess will be discussed in your interview with us and we will make a note of it.

Once you know that your baby is coming (either when you're in labor, have an induction or cesarean scheduled, or you just had the baby), reach out and let us know. Jane and Kate will jump into action, getting your first few nights scheduled. We will hand-select the best doula on our team to suit your needs based on availability, location, personality and expertise. Your nights will be scheduled and you will get confirmation/reminders each morning that you have an upcoming shift. You will have a link to our scheduling platform if you need to cancel or reschedule any nights. We will be pretty hands-on with your scheduling for the first 2 weeks or so, and then we will pass you the reins and let you schedule your own nights going forward. We have one calendar link to simplify this for you, with access to all of our contractors' calendars.

You'll be sent invoices every two weeks, with secure online payment options.
We accept credit cards and HSA's.
All invoices can easily be downloaded for your records.

Jane E. Drichta CPM, CNCS (she/her)
Co-Owner, Overnight Postpartum Doula and Certified Newborn Sleep Specialist
Serving Seattle

Picture
As a postpartum doula, Jane can help you identify and implement early parenting skills based on YOUR values. Nobody knows your baby like you do, even if you don’t quite feel that way yet. As a midwife, Jane is accustomed to providing physiological and psychological support to new family, including early breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, hints for recovery after a surgical birth, SIDS prevention, and caring for premature or medically fragile infants. Jane concentrates on overnight care, spending what are literally and emotionally often the darkest hours encouraging and problem solving. A family that is well rested and supported with hands on help, relevant information, and love can move forward into early parenting with confidence and joy.

Picture
Kate Dewey is a Lactation Educator and Postpartum Doula who has been working with newborns in the Seattle area since 2004. Kate has raised 5 babies of her own and each kiddo taught her more and more about the ever-changing needs of newborns and new parents. Kate brings her background in childbirth & new parent eduction to each shift, guiding new parents with real-time education about their baby and the baby's needs. Her extensive experience with postpartum support means there is very little she hasn't seen and her compassion for the new-parent experience is deep. Kate also pulls from her other roles as birth doula, doula trainer and grief & loss doula trainings. Her goal for the morning after a shift is that all parents have gotten more sleep than they planned on and they feel more confident about how well they are responding to their baby's needs!

Jasmyne Bryant (she/they/jas)
Postpartum & Sleep doula
Picture
Jasmyne radiates lighthearted joy and thoughtful care in every aspect of her life. Jasmyne has always had a desire to care for the community around her. Like many intuitive caregivers, Jasmyne has always been caring for young children in her life. Early on she discovered the power of nourishing bonds and openhearted support in building resilience and self determination. Informed by her lived experience and work in human services, Jasmyne became passionate about racial, reproducative, and LGBTQ+ justice. Quickly, Jasmyne discovered the importance of doula care in improving birth and postpartum outcomes for marginalized communities as well as a way of preserving Black and Indigenous knowledges around parenting. Knowing this is the right path for her, Jasmyne is constantly pursuing continued education to better care for her clients including specialized training in sleep consultation. Jasmyne lives her purpose by supporting people through intense and tender transitions. Jasmyne meets people where they are at and takes a warm, empathetic, evidence based approach to doula care. When Jasmyne is not working as a doula she is focusing on the transformative power of art and study. Jasmyne is always growing and imagining new ways to foster more caring futures.

She offers trauma informed, inclusive birth and postpartum care and it is Melanie's goal to support people getting the care that helps them feel safe and seen, essential to the health and wellness of both baby and family.
