Billing and Insurance Information
Lactation Support provided by a licensed IBCLC (like Maria) are covered by insurance under the Affordable Care Act. While Maria Pardo is not currently in-network with any insurance companies, we will send a superbill (fancy invoice with applicable insurance codes on it) for every appointment and after it has been paid, you may submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement. We do not guarantee that our services will be reimbursed.
You can increase the smoothness of your insurance reimbursement by calling in advance of the visit and requesting a pre-authorization. They often will ask about the codes that will be sent their way and you can tell them the diagnosis code is "Z39.1" and the procedure code is likely "99342" (there are some variations in procedure codes but that is the most common).
If your insurance company continues to deny your claim, you can find resources here for taking legal action.
