Let It Be Birth Perinatal Services, LLC’s Beliefs Statement

Let It Be Birth Perinatal Service, LLC is an inclusive organization with a focus on supporting postpartum parents and families in the Greater Seattle-Tacoma area.

We disavow ableism, homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, ageism, sizeism, anti-semitism, Islamophobia and classism.

We recognize:
  • Doula certification, at its core, gate keeps a knowledge that is innate human body wisdom. While we recognize the value and need for training in our current society, we do not require any doulas we work with to be beholden to any organization that requires annual financial contributions in exchange for the acknowledgment of knowledge retained.
  • Transgender birthing fathers and non-binary parents will be given the same respect, acknowledgement, validation and care as cisgender parents.
  • The BMI calculator is flawed and often used as a tool to oppress birthing people. We do not acknowledge its relevance in perinatal health care.
  • The “VBAC Calculator” is racist and often used to deny evidence-based VBAC care to birthing families. We do not acknowledge its relevance in labor care.
  • Each parent has a right to choose if and how they feed their baby with their body.
  • Each birthing person should have autonomy over their labor care.
  • Single parents, partnered parents, married parents, friends raising babies together, polyamorous families and multi generational households are all valid and loving family structures.

Our employees and any doulas contracted with us strive to make every family feel welcome and accepted as they are. We refrain from judgment when it comes to your reproductive past, present or future. We support all feeding choices and paths to nourishing infants.
