Teresa Thurmond (she/her)
Postpartum Doula
About Teresa:
Teresa Thurmond is a postpartum doula and newborn care specialist with over a decade of experience supporting infants, children, and families. Her path into birth work grew out of years of hands-on childcare and a deep desire to support families during the vulnerable and transformative early postpartum period. Since transitioning into postpartum care in late 2022, Teresa has focused on providing calm, evidence-based, and compassionate support in the earliest days at home with a new baby.
Now based in the Seattle area, Teresa has supported more than 20 families across a wide range of postpartum settings, including overnight and daytime care, hospital-to-home transitions, and extended contracts. Her experience includes caring for premature infants, NICU graduates, babies with reflux and feeding sensitivities, oral ties and post-procedure recovery, and both combination and exclusive feeding plans. She specializes in overnight support, newborn soothing, digestion support, early sleep conditioning, and parent education, always centering responsive, developmentally appropriate care.
Teresa’s approach is grounded in both practical experience and a strong awareness of emotional regulation, energy, and environment. She places great importance on creating calm, grounded spaces and supporting the nervous systems of both baby and parents, especially during long nights and periods of adjustment. Families often describe her presence as steady, intuitive, and deeply reassuring. Outside of client work, Teresa enjoys spending time outdoors exploring Washington’s natural beauty and staying connected to her local community.
