Prerequisites and Post-Training Support
Before this training:
You will be sent free access to Kate Dewey's online Childbirth Education Class and it is strongly recommended that you view all 14 modules before attending. If you do not watch these classes, you may be a bit behind with some of the terminology and topics we cover. Attending this course before the training also completes one of your BAI certification requirements so really... it's good to just do it.
After the training:
You will have multiple areas of support following your training. The first is an invitation to a mentorship group on Facebook with other students who have taken Kate's trainings. You'll also be invited to the National BAI student group. Kate also includes a private 90-minute virtual coaching session for each student that you can use anytime during your career. Some people book this right away and others come back a year or more later ready to meet and get a kick-start.

Frequently Asked Questions: Once this workshop is over, will I be a doula?
The short answer is "yes". You will not be certified as a doula until you finish the requirements as laid out in your BAI manual (you will receive this at our training). HOWEVER, you will be equipped to offer support in the birth room at the end of this training and you will leave feeling prepared to complete your certification and build your business. For more information on what it takes to complete certification. Click HERE. What will be covered at the training? We will cover the role of the birth doula and the needs of the birthing person and family throughout each stage of labor. BAI takes our trainings to another level in that we create space for an introspective journey as you become a birth doula so we will be focusing on those aspects as well as business practices and how to make yourself successful. This is the most comprehensive training available, you will be very happy with it! |
"I spent the entire weekend at a doula training. Before going I was excited to finally get certified but not really looking forward to the training (it is a long story as to why I have attended 300+ births and never certified... easiest explanation is it wasn't a big thing 16 years ago). I have to tell you this was hands down the best training I have ever attended! 3 days of training and I am totally looking forward to going to my next birth"
