"Having the night doulas made the difference between simply 'surviving' my postpartum
experience and enjoying those precious early days with my baby."
-Rebecca, Kirkland

"Even though I was up every 3 hours feeding baby, having the night doulas meant that my husband
got a full night's sleep so he was able to wrangle our toddler during the day. We couldn't have
made it through those first weeks as a family of 4 without Let It Be's team."
-Priya, Seattle

"We had a routine of feeding, pumping and supplementing that was only possible thanks
to the support we got from the doulas that helped with all the steps, offered tips,
advice and endless encouragement during that time."
- Henry, West Seattle

Overnight Doula FAQ

Why work with our Overnight Postpartum Doula agency?
We are only offering Overnight Postpartum Doula services at this time. Daytime shifts can occasionally be scheduled depending on our doulas' schedules but we are primarily an Overnight team!
Your investment in sleep: $65/hour, 8-hour shift from 9pm-5am
Flexibility is our passion. we have structured our model to fit the unknown needs of new families.
  • Mostly, this means that you do not need to know right now how much doula care you will need after your baby is born. Our contract has no dates or minimums and we do not take a deposit. You might need only a few weeks of care, or you may need to extend into months 3 and 4 or more. We have you covered.
  • Weird, right? How does that work? We do our schedule weekly, so you will be able to scale up or down your care as needed as your family settles and you get to know your baby and your needs. This also means you can take weeks off of care if you have other help in town. You have the option to pause care at any time and restart care if needed down the road.

Our team of Postpartum Doulas is the best in the Seattle area!
  • Our doula contractors decide when and how much they want to work, structuring their availability to what fits them and their families best.  This leads to happy, passionate doulas who have a healthy work-life balance.
  • Competitive pay for our doula team means that we get to bring on only experienced doulas. All of our doulas are highly trained and experienced in postpartum support, newborn care,  infant sleep, lactation, and perinatal mental health. Our team is CPR and First Aid certified, fully vaccinated and happy to mask if the family desires. We take the health and safety of our newborn clients very seriously.

More perks...
  • Cancellations are rare. If the scheduled doula needs to cancel their shift, we simply have another doula step in to cover that shift.
  • "But what if the new doula don't know my routine?" Our team uses Slack internally to share updates and best practices for each family, so in the event that a doula has to cover a shift for someone they've never worked for before, they can study the notes and arrive prepared and informed.
  • The flexibility of our model means that you will work with multiple doulas during your time with us and we do not have the capacity for our clients to meet or select their doula ahead of time. Our clients trust that we will send them the doulas that fit their family needs and style. A collaborative doula team working for you means more ideas to help you and your baby if things get tricky! Each family can expect to work with 2-4 doulas during their time with us, depending on care needs and requested dates.
What's next?
  • Interested clients start by filling out the inquiry form on our site. That will get you into our automated system and you will be directed to our calendar to set up an interview and intake session with one of the owners, Jane or Kate. You'll get a copy of our service agreement with your interview appointment confirmation so you can peruse it before we meet.
  • Everything we do is paperless so if you decide to work with us, we will send an e-contract to sign and intake forms to fill out.
  • We accept credit cards and HSA or FSA cards. While we do not bill insurance, some reimbursement may be possible and we can provide a superbill for all postpartum services if you'd like to attempt this.
  • We work well with supplemental insurance benefits (such as Carrot, Progeny and Maven) and we can go over this more in your interview with us.
  • All invoices can easily be downloaded for your records.

Our story...

This agency was born during the Covid-19 pandemic. As Seattle swiftly shut down and the nation followed, expecting parents found themselves without the family support they had planned on using. No longer were aunties, friends or grandparents flying in from out of state, much less from out of country. These families reached out to the only solution they had left: doulas.

Kate and Jane were working as a partnership then, and started pulling in backup doulas to help them with the influx of overnight care inquiries. What they quickly realized was that the majority of families did not know how much support they would need until after their baby was born. Most families also did not need a standard-sized postpartum doula contract of 3-4 shifts per week for 6-8 weeks.  What they all needed was flexibility.  With that realization in mind, they turned their attention to the doula community and looked for what the doulas needed.  It was easy to see that the doulas were struggling. Some families would book a doula for 3 nights per week and then realize they wanted 5 nights per week, but most doulas don't function well with that level of night work. Other families would book 3 nights per week and then their needs would drop to only needing 1 night per week but they were bound by a contract and forced to continue with care they didn't need.

This wasn't working. There had to be a better way. They decided to just throw it all together in a pile of chaos and see what shakes out!!

The chaos worked!

They brought on 3 permanent contracted doulas and started taking clients.

In the past 4 years, this has grown to an agency that has 25+ contracted doulas that range from full time to part time. The doulas are free to take their own private clients at any time, they control their own availability and maximum work load, and they can block off their calendars for family events, travel or continuing education trainings and workshops. This has directly led to doulas who are happy, rested and thriving in a profession that is often very unstable.

In those same 4 years, this team has supported over 300 families. Families whose care needs ranged from one night per week for 3 weeks to 7 nights a week for 3 months and some families stayed with us well into months 5, 7 and 9 of baby's life. We take care of preemies, twins, infants with special needs, babies with reflux and parents of all genders who are recovering from a vaginal or cesarean delivery or who welcomed their baby through surrogacy or adoption. Some of our birthing parents have complicated recoveries and extenuating medical conditions that make sleep absolutely essential and we work with each family to craft a night routine that fits their unique needs. Our clients are free to adjust their care needs up or down on a weekly basis because they work with a team of doulas who are always available for the fluctuations that come in the first few weeks of parenthood.

If you are struggling or worried that you will struggle and want to make sure you have a team by your side, ready to care for your family in the fragile early days, we are here.

We've got you!
