Coping Techniques & Pain Medication Preferences
First, we will cover labor basics like timing contractions and changes in labor, the stages of labor, how and when to go to the birth place (or call in your team if you're birthing at home). We'll spend time talking about your birth coping preferences as well as cover coping techniques and pain medication options. We also include information on cesarean and induction as applicable. This section is designed to meet your specific needs so there will be a lot of opportunity for questions and conversation about the things that are on your mind.
What to Pack
Second, we will go over guidance on what to pack if you are birthing at the hospital or a birth center, or what to have packed in case of a homebirth transfer. If you are planning a homebirth, we will also go over what to have on hand for your labor and delivery in your home, and when might be a good time to get that set up.
Postpartum Plan
Third, we will discuss the importance of building a postpartum plan - who will be helping you after baby is born? What do you need support with? We go over healing from either a pelvic or caesarean birth and what supplies you'll need. Part of building your postpartum plan is also discussing postpartum mood disorders and the signs to look for. We can help you set up a Meal Train as well!
FAQ:
Q: Does this replace Childbirth Education Classes?
A: No, we strongly recommend you have already completed or are completing Childbirth Education classes before your session with us, unless you are not a first time parent. We will be able to build a more customized plan for you if you have already taken those classes, because we can really focus on what you want and not on how labor progresses.
Q: Will you also be on call for my birth?
A: No. If you're interested in our doula services, you can go to our page to learn more about our package here. We will subtract the cost of your birth plan session from the total cost of doula services if you were to hire us as birth support.
Pricing and Location:
$200 covers a two hour "one on one" zoom session
$75 for additional sessions
